Allysha is the new manager of the Eastland Wood Council, and comes from a professional background of administration and project management in local government and emergency response.

Originally from Wellington, she moved to Gisborne in 2015 with her whānau and is proud to call Tairāwhiti home.

“My children whakapapa to this rohe, and it is important to us as parents to see them flourish in their tūrangawaewae.”

She feels the forestry industry is integral to the area, and the impacts economically, environmentally and socially are felt by the entire community. “I have some understanding both from an organisational viewpoint and a community one of the necessity of having a solid foundation of support and accountability within the higher levels of the industry. I look forward to contributing to that.”

Allysha is excited to assist the Eastland Wood Council to make sound decisions for the future of the industry and thus the future of Tairāwhiti.
