Tūranga Ararau is the Iwi Tertiary Education provider of Te Rūnanga o Tūranganui ā Kiwa and provides and promotes the skills, knowledge and qualifications to enable Iwi to manage, advance and control their cultural and economic resources being the land, the forests, the sea and, most importantly, our people.

UC is the only university in New Zealand to offer professional forestry degree programmes, including undergraduate programmes run through the School of Forestry and the College of Engineering.
Our first-class facilities include teaching and research spaces and the Wood Technology precinct, which contains a timber drying and preservation unit, a pulp and paper room, and a general workshop.
You can study either Forest Operations or Forestry Management. Forestry Operations includes topics like health and safety, landing operations and processing, chainsaw safety and use, quality control, and how to safely operate a forestry machine. Forest Management includes topics like business planning, forest health and nutrition management, supply chain, harvesting and silviculture operations management, and environmental sustainability.
